Frequently Asked Questions

What satellite station will be carrying the nightly programs?

This is a direct-to-church event, which means that if people want to view the programs, Out of Thin Air will only be available in a church near them. The nightly programs will air in English and Spanish on the Esperanza Channel, which is the same satellite station It Is Written used to uplink The Appearing and The Presence. Specific satellite connection information will be included in the resource kit your church will receive when it registers for the event.

There is no cost to participate in this event. You have the option of purchasing resources such as the Out of Thin Air book and lessons, but no cost commitment is required. We want you to invest as much as possible in your local church!

When will the programs be uplinked?

The programs will air on the Esperanza (Spanish) and ACN/ATN Service Channel (English) September 28 – October 1, 2007, at 7 p.m. in each of the main North American time zones (Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific). To see the specific satellite settings, please click on the "Resources" link to the left of this text and download the Satellite Guide. As a rule of thumb, if you can receive the Hope network on your satellite dish, you will be able to tune in to the channel that will be airing Out of Thin Air.

Will the Hope Channel (Main Channel) and 3ABN be carrying the series?

Since this is a direct-to-church event with the purpose of connecting people with their local church, the initial airing will only be available via the Esperanza Channel. The format of the series is designed to work in tandem with a local pastor. At a later time, the series will be offered to the Hope Channel and 3ABN for the purpose of airing once the event has concluded and the programs have been edited for regular broadcast.

If I register for a resource kit, does that lock me into being a host site?

If you register as a host church, you will receive the resource kit and your church will automatically be listed as a place where people can view the series. If you are not yet sure if you will be able to host the event, we encourage you to sign up for our general e-Newsletter on www.thinairevent.com and continue checking the host site, as we will post additional information and resources there over the next few months. Before you register, please make sure—if you are not the church pastor—that you have the pastor’s permission, and that no one else has already registered your church (to prevent duplication in the zip code locator).

What are the sermon titles for each of the nights?

1) The Big Question — Ancient writings tell the story of an omnipotent God who brought this universe into existence. Does He really exist?

2) The Hidden History of the Human Race — Evidence seems to suggest that our ancient past might be different than what we’ve believed for generations. Is it true?

3) Secrets in Stone — The more we dig into the earth, the more surprises we find. What happened to this planet in the distant past?

4) Out of Thin Air — Amazingly, there are reliable answers to the most important questions ever asked by human beings. Find out why you’re here!

When will my resource kit arrive?

The resource kits should arrive within two weeks of your church registration. However, most of the kit components are immediately available for download in the Resources area of this site. As soon as you register, we recommend that you download and carefully read the Event Manual and Satellite Guide.

Do you have materials the local moderator can use to lead out in the discussion sessions?

Pastor Boonstra has created a brochure-sized Bible study/sermon review to accompany each evening’s topic. These inexpensive guides (four in each set) will be available for purchase prior to the series. These studies will explore each evening’s topic further and prepare for the following evening’s meeting.

What if our church doesn’t have anyone who can lead out as a moderator?

Following each evening’s presentation, It Is Written will play 30-40 seconds of music to give local churches with moderators enough time to turn off the satellite program. After this time, a satellite moderator will lead out in a discussion of the nightly topic for churches without moderators.

Do you have anything by way of advertising in local papers, on the radio or via our church website?

The Resource DVD (sent to every registered host church) contains advertising material that can be personalized and used in your local media market. Many of these ads are also available in the Resources section of the host website.

If I have any technical issues, what number should I call?

You should call our support line at 1-800-226-1119 with any technical questions. It is highly recommended that you test the signal prior to the meeting.

I'm having a hard time viewing the videos on the Preview DVD. How can I watch all of the programs?

If your DVD automatically plays the second video when you press the down arrow on your remote control, simply press the up arrow button when you are on the menu screen. As you scroll "up" it will get you to the videos you want to see.

I am a pastor of multiple churches. Can I register more than one church once I create an account?

Yes. Once you have created your user account, you can register as many churches as you need to by clicking on the "Register Your Site" link for each one you need to add.
